The ICSD resides in the heart of Claremont and is the largest Mosque in San Diego County. Our mission statement is to serve the religious needs of the San Diego Muslim population and work with the larger community to serve the less fortunate, to educate, and to better our nation. The regular activities held at ICSD are the five daily prayers, Friday prayer and sermon, and a variety of educational talks and seminars. We also work with other Mosques in San Diego county in sponsoring and holding events for the local Muslim community. In addition to these programs, ICSD is increasingly branching out in working with other San Diego organizations for social causes of interest to all people of faith.

Transnational Great Return March - San Diego Action

International call to action in support of The Great Return March! We are calling our community and allies to take action and launch demonstrations in support of the Great Return March on April 14th, just as the righteous resisters in Gaza have declared. The time has come for our youth wherever they may be to raise their voices in support of the rightful struggle of our people in Gaza, and for our youth in diaspora to proclaim we will never surrender the right of return. Now more than ever when we seem the most divided, we must come together in collectively asserting our right to return and our dream of the total liberation of our people and homeland. There will be no solution without the total end of the Zionist colonization of Palestine--return is our right, and demand: we will return! Palestine will be free! We will meet at 12 pm on Saturday, April 14th in front of the Balboa Park Fountain. Please share this event widely.

Share the event using the #ShowUp4Refugees hashtag, host a sign-making or phone-calling party with friends. Let's turn out San Diego! San Diego County is a multi-national, multicultural region with vibrant immigrant and refugee communities. With the erosion of public trust in government and increasingly uncivil public discourse, we call on local lawmakers to stand up for all San Diegans and to ensure the region's newcomer, immigrant, and Muslim families are safe, valued and included members of our shared community. So that every San Diegan may feel safe, valued and included, our region must address the key sustainability issues of access to housing, transparent democracy, and constitutional rights to privacy and free practice of religion. On December 10th, as we observe International Human Rights Day of Action, we will gather as a chorus of voices standing up against hateful rhetoric and discriminatory legislation. We call on our public elected representatives—and on each other—to take responsible action to welcome and protect the rights of our newcomer and immigrant families. Art Therapy

It's easy for children to express their feelings by drawing a picture as opposed to answering questions directly. Children may be reluctant or even hostile about discussing certain topics. Creating artwork is a safe venue that allows kids to tackle tough issues in a creative way. Talking to the children about their drawings or paintings and helping them interpret the art can provide adults with the opening they need to get at the heart of the problems affecting our children and help the children release their negative emotions.
