Too many communities know too little about how Islam has shaped America and how American Muslim communities have enriched our nation and have contributed to every aspect of American life.

The class will look at the early Muslim communities, their struggles and contributions and the legacies they left behind in the most difficult times. It will explore the African American community's immense contribution to Islam and to America. It will look at historical figures who have impacted life in the public realm and have in multiple ways. The class will also look the modern day American Muslim experiences.
