A Weekend with Shaykh Yahya Rhodus

Join us at IACC for a weekend of inspiration and guidance with Shaykh Yahya Rhodus. Here is a schedule of his speaking engagements as well topics. FRIDAY KHUTBA FRI NIGHT HALAQA--After Isha "Keeping the Flame Burning: How to be Strong Believers in Times of Challenge" Maintaining the spiritual inspiration we receive can be difficult when faced with the challenges of our times. How do we stay motivated and consistently connected to Allah when dealing with the pressures of work and family, Islamophobia, and increasing criticism towards faith in general? FRI NIGHT YOUTH QIYAAM--10pm "Dealing with Toxic people in Your Life" How do we deal with negative influences from friends and community members who are not helpful on our path to Allah without forsaking them, or harming ourselves in the process? SAT AFTER FAJR KHAATIRAH--6:45am Living Legacies: Taking Inspiration from Modern Day Teachers Drawing from personal experiences, an insight into the spirit of Islamic learning, which is not simply meant to be an intellectual exercise, but a transformative experience acquired through the transfer of realities from one heart to another. SAT WORKSHOP--11am-2pm "Fixing Our Homes & Communities by Purifying Our Hearts" **Session 1: Sound Hearts, Sound Families--Practical aspects of tazkiya in family life and dealing with challenges that may arise in marriage and child-rearing. **Session 2: The Selfie Culture: How Narcissism is Hurting Our Community--A discussion on how the self-centric culture promoted by social media leads to harm, not only in our own spiritual growth, but also in how our communities function and develop. SAT AFTER ISHA KHAATIRAH--8:15pm "Beyond Surface-Level Islam: Committing to Serious Islamic Learning" We often emphasize Islamic learning for our children, but fall short in making it a priority for our own selves. Beyond the Internet and feel-good, occasional talks, there is a need for a deeper and more structured study of our Deen that is the need of the hour.
