Debate Information:
Debate typically follows a back-and-forth discussion with speeches given by each side of the argument. Here is a summary of a typical speech pattern of a generic debate.

1AC (Affirmative Construction) - The first speech given by the team "pro" argument where they lay out the argument
CX (Cross Examination) The "con" argument team questions the pro team's arguments and ideas
1NC (Negative Construction) - The "con" argument team lays down their arguments and attacks the pro team's arguments
CX - (Cross Examination) - The pro argument team questions the con team's arguments and ideas
1AR (Affirmative Rebuttal) - The pro team rebuts their arguments, wrapping up their main points in a last attempt to persuade the judge
1NR (Negative Rebuttal) - Typically the last speech of the debate; the con team rebuts their arguments and attempts to persuade the judge why their right.
