Young Muslims (YM) is a pioneering national youth organization that has been on the youth scene since the early 90’s. We have established a well organized network of local youth groups that we call NeighborNets (which means network of neighbors) across the United States and Canada. Each NeighborNet is a dynamic youth group which attempts to build a solid understanding of the principles of Islam amongst its members by helping them put these principles into practice. By providing the youth with an Islamic atmosphere where they can form bonds of brotherhood with their peers, they become comfortable with Islam and its teachings. We stress the importance of knowing, understanding, and fulfilling our individual and collective obligations as Muslims.Young Muslims constantly strives to embody the Quranic verse: Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain felicity. Muslimerican: Dawah Day!

In today’s political environment, it’s difficult for American Muslims to confront their identities. Many a times, we are not considered Americans because of the way we look or act. But we feel as American as anyone else. We need to find comfort in our Muslim identities and be willing to portray that to others. Therefore, WhyIslam in collaboration with Young Muslims (YM) is organizing an event to do just that. Inshallah on Saturday, October 28th, 2017 from 11 am to 5 pm, Ust. Fahad Tasleem will be conducting a workshop on how to invite others towards Islam at Masjid Al-Wali (9 Olsen Avenue). The following day we will be putting what we learn into practice by going to Central Park in New York City on Sunday, October 29th from 11 am to 5 pm to participate in active da’wah. وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ قَوْلًا مِّمَّن دَعَا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا وَقَالَ إِنَّنِي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ Allah says in the Quran, “Who is better in speech than the one who calls to Allah, does righteous deeds and says that I am of the Muslims?” 41:33 Please do your best to attend this event for it is our duty in the west and invite anyone you know that would be interested. Both events are free of charge and food will be provided during the workshop. If you have any further inquiries please contact us at dawah@whyislam.org and put a post up on this event page.

YM Northeast Retreat 2017

I want you to imagine you grew up in an environment that protected you from fitnah; this protection carried you through your entire life but then, you were forced to step out. Step 1.) You are exposed to constant exposure of the opposite sex and are tempted to free mix. Step 2.) You befriend people who, you find out, spend all their free time under the influence because they see it as the only way to unwind. You keep walking and realize that you aren’t prepared for this. Your heart and imaan is weak and diseases are poured into your heart until that candle of imaan is extinguished. Your heart is empty and dark. The heart is the most honorable part of a man’s body; it’s the part that knows Allah SWT, works for Him, seeks to draw you near him and feels the values of his bounties and favors. The other parts of the body just follow the heart’s commands like kings utilize slaves. The hearts is prepared for guidance in regards to its nature but may not accept in respect to our desires and wishes. The hearts remains in a field of struggle between good and bad and once a side is chosen, it settles. If the bad side is chosen then the only method to clean it to its original state is through the remembrance of Allah SWT. Don’t give up and let Shaytan puff at your candle as you try to reignite it. Find light in your life and be the light to others. Keep it burning and if it goes out, remember, you can always rekindle the flame. Allah SWT says in the the Quran, “Only in remembrance of Allah will your hearts find peace,” (63.9) Being in good company makes you better, so let's spend this summer reconnecting with Allah SWT by reconnecting with one another. Young Muslims Northeast Retreat puts us as Muslim youth in an environment that builds brotherhood that can reach from CT to NJ, from PA to MA and all the way to NY. Join Young Muslims for the annual summer Retreat August 18-22, 2017. The Prophet SAW said, “A person follows the Deen of his closest friend; therefore let each of you look carefully at whom he chooses for friends.” [Tirmidhi] Activities include: Basketball, Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Swimming, Hiking, Rock Climbing, Zip-lining, Mountain Biking, Archery and ending the trip with miles of White Water Rafting!!!! Speakers: Coming Soon!

YM Goes Green

The YM Sisters Goes Green Campaign is geared towards raising awareness about environmental issues and taking care of the earth, an amanah to us from Allah (SWT). The campaign is based off of the following hadiths: • Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “If the Resurrection were established upon one of you while he has in his hand a sapling, then let him plant it.” - Al-Albani • "If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift (sadaqah) for him." - Imam Bukhari We invite everyone around the country to participate in this campaign between April 28 and May 14, 2017 and create awareness for the environment so we can work together to protect it. Considering current events, such as the dismantling of the work of Environmental Protection Agency, the rapid rise and increase of global warming, and the growth of consumption culture, it is our responsibility as Muslims to raise our voices together and raise awareness. Along with having halaqahs, it is encouraged to participate in community events such as planting flowers at the masjid, local trash cleanups, and spreading awareness on social media.

Volunteer for #FeedTheirLegacy 2017

“Our Three Winners memory lives on. The legacies that Deah, Yusor and Razan left behind through their endless kindness and generosity will not be forgotten. It is up to the rest of us to continue on in their honor with the work that they started. Our world needs to change, and eventually it will.” - Jennifer Barnes, Editor-in-Chief of Athens Oracle Friday, February 10th 2017, is the Two Year Anniversary of the Chapel-Hill Shooting. To commemorate Our Three Winners -- Deah, Yusor, and Razan -- Young Muslims NeighborNets across the country will participate in 2 weeks of community service. YM members will volunteer at soup kitchens, make food for shelters, host food drives, donate to local food pantries, and more. We encourage you to attend your local NeighborNet and participate in this campaign, even if you do not normally attend YM. We invite all youth groups to participate in this effort! Join us as we #FeedTheirLegacy. START: 2/10/2017 | END: 2/24/2017 STEP 1: Develop a plan with your NeighborNet/youth group. You have two weeks to participate in as many charity efforts as you would like. STEP 2: Remember to contact your local food shelters / organizations prior to visiting. Many require appointments and have schedules set up. You are NOT limited to Muslim run organizations, nor should you try to be. Contact activism@ymsisters.com if you or your youth group is in need of support. STEP 3: Don’t stop with just one act of charity! You have two whole weeks. Make the best use of them! You’ll never forget this experience. STEP 4: Remember to stay sincere in your efforts. May Allah accept all of the effort you put in! “We have a window of opportunity now to educate people about who these three young people were and what they were committed to in their lives: feeding and medically serving the homeless, helping refugees, displaying the best neighborly qualities, and most of all living a true and accurate life of devotion, prayer, and charity. Sincerely, with tears and condolences, Hamza Yusuf.” - Hamza Yusuf, President of Zaytuna College

Khateeb Workshop

Asalaamu Alaikum! YM Houston and MIST Houston presents......Khateeb Workshop! FREE REGISTRATION: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdHTW4XAue5nh7HnTdTQYsV18mjY7TjL8gwkcre5lcOQ_BUug/viewform Brothers only. (High school and college students preferred) This workshop is specifically created to empower students to the next level in the community and in their Iman. For many people, Friday is the only religious experience they have all week. ----Are we upholding the responsibility of the mimbar? ----Are we settling for khutbahs that are below average, and don’t help us become better Muslims? Less than inspiring? Boring? Not applicable to our lives? The problem we face is two fold. Firstly, we lack qualified khateebs in general. People are often thrust into the position against their will, and sometimes have been giving khutbah for 5-10 years without ever receiving formal training. The second problem is that even the experienced khateeb sometimes is not able to connect properly with the audience. This workshop is a small effort at helping to fix that. Whether you are simply interested in giving a khutbah, or a well-seasoned veteran, we hope that you will try and attend.

The second problem is that even the experienced khateeb sometimes is not able to connect properly with the audience. This workshop is a small effort at helping to fix that. Whether you are simply interested in giving a khutbah, or a well-seasoned veteran, we hope that you will try and attend.

YM Northeast Retreat 2016

In the Name of Allah the Source of Mercy the Most-Merciful There are three things can protect us from the temptation of the Dunya and can help us attain Jannah: the Soul, the Heart, the Mind. They define who we are as a People...each of these things help us to stay connected to Allah. However, the temptations of this life keep us from focusing on how to keep these elements of ourselves vibrant & strong. There is hope, all is not lost. Allah says in the Qur'an, “Only in remembrance of Allah will your hearts find peace” (Surah 63, Ayah 9) The Prophet (SAW) said, "A person follows the Deen (way of life) of his close friend; therefore let each of you look carefully at whom he chooses for friends." [Tirmidhi] Being in good company makes you better, and it makes those in your presence better. So, let's spend this Summer reconnecting with Allah, by reconnecting withone another. Young Muslims Northeast retreat is an environment where a Muslim youth will build bonds of brotherhood with people from NY, NJ, CT, PA, MA, and many other places across the US. Join Young Muslims for the Annual Summer-Retreat August 19-23, 2016. Activities include Whitewater Rafting, High Rope Courses, Canoeing, Basketball, Football, Soccer, Swimming, Hiking, And Much More. Age: 14-25 (Brothers-Only) Speakers: [Coming Soon] Secure your seat by registering ASAP! Yc2k16 Intensive Session - Shattering the Shackles

An intensive session is a session that is 2 hours and 45 minutes long and is meant to be more academic in nature, for an audience that desires a higher level of learning. It is held early in the morning and is typically only attended by those that possess a true commitment to learn. The intensive session is meant to go more in-depth and address topics that would otherwise be too dense to address in a 30-40 minute subsession. Attendees will also be provided with packets of notes to give an overview of the main points of the session and also to guide their own personal notes. The topic for this year’s intensive session is Shattering the Shackles by Sheikh Kamal El Mekki. It will take place in Room 339-342. Seating is limited and will be based on first come first served. Often times, we experience emotional pain yet we don't understand why. We pursue and achieve our goals yet we still feel empty. We can’t seem to get closer to Allah SWT despite sincerely wanting to. We end up empty and feeling hollow because we attach our hearts to that other than Allah SWT. However, true contentment in life is can only be found with Allah SWT. As such, this session will discuss the following: ● What are the signs that our hearts are attached to other than Allah SWT? ● How do we address the feeling of emptiness/hollowness in our hearts? ● What should we attach our hearts to? What should we detach our hearts from? ● What are the consequences of having our hearts attached to the wrong things? ● What changes in outlook must we make in order to reconnect our hearts to Allah SWT? ● What are practical steps we can take in order to reconnect our hearts to Allah SWT?

Take Ownership

Young Muslims Glasgow, ISB and Amina MWRC present ************************Take Ownership!************************* A workshop empowering young Muslims, discussing identity, islamophobia in the media, refuting ISIS and internet safety. Session 1-exclusively for 14-25 years old Session 2-Parents and all adults welcome. Open to brothers and sisters. Free event, pizzas and drinks on offer too! We are undoubtedly living in a time in which we are the most globally connected to one another than ever before through the use of social media … yet why at times does it seem we are also equally so disconnected? We have all witnessed and been touched in one way or another by the events gripping our social screens over the past few months and most recently the past few weeks. We are being thrown into extreme SADNESS by being exposed to scenes of injustice to innocents across the globe. ANGER at the senseless loss of live, WARMTH and JOY at the countless everyday heroes going out their way to aid strangers in need and Confusion. CONFUSION when the blame falls on a religion whose foundation stems from peace; good character and humanity towards its fellow man… Its time to TAKE OWNERSHIP of this debate, be proud of who you are, confidant to say these acts of terror are nothing to do with religion #NotInMyName. In this workshop we aim to cover finding your identity, dealing with Islamophobia in the media, refuting ISIS and the media and cover Internet safety. FRIDAY 4th of December at Al-Furqan mosque: 5pm: free food and drinks 5.30pm: prompt start to session 1 (ONLY for 14-25yrs BOTH brothers and sisters) 9pm: Session 2 internet safety (parents welcome) Transport: will be available for those attending from Woodfarm YM circles, please contact your head of circle for more details. YM Northeast Retreat 2015- Crisis of Conscience: The American Muslim

When one examines why some youth deviate, a simple but terrifying fact is brought to light - most of the time, the cause is the influence of the friends that surround them. The task of choosing the right friends and companions is essential to preserving our identity. Befriending righteous and virtuous Muslims is one of the prerequisites for staying on the Straight Path and pleasing Allah سبحانه وتعالى. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "A person follows the Deen (way of life) of his close friend; therefore let each of you look carefully at whom he chooses for friends." [Tirmidhi] Want to have fun this summer and also learn what it means to be a Muslim youth in America? Join Young Muslims for the Annual Summer Retreat August 22-26, 2015! YM Iftar Night

The Prophet said: He who gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will receive the same reward as him, except that nothing will be reduced from the fasting persons reward.” [Ahmad, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah, Ibn Hibbaan, Saheeh]. Abdullah ibn `Amr reported that the Messenger of Allah, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, said: “The fast and the Qur’an are two intercessors for the servant of Allah on the Day of Resurrection. The fast will say: ‘O Lord, I prevented him from his food and desires during the day. Let me intercede for him.’ The Qur’an will say: ‘I prevented him from sleeping at night. Let me intercede for him.’ And their intercession will be accepted.” [Ahmad] Narrated Abu Huraira(r.a): The Prophet said:”… whoever fasts during Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari). “…whoever witnesses the Month of Ramadan should fast through it…” Q(2:185) “Ramadan is the (month) in which the Quran was sent down, as a guide to mankind and a clear guidance and judgment (so that mankind will distinguish from right and wrong)..” (Q 2:183) “Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you many learn piety and rightousness” (Qur’an, al-Baqarah, 2:183) “…And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew.” (Q 2:184)

YM Youth Conference 2015

We live in a world that wages a war on our nafs (soul). We are incessantly bombarded by influences from our friends and family, communities, and society at large. It has become a challenge to restrain our desires, discipline our thoughts, and correct our actions in order to stay on the path of Allah SWT as shown through Prophet Muhammad SAW and upon the understanding of the righteous predecessors. We are all struggling with unique forms of spiritual battles with one thing in common and that is that we are a generation "lost" in "whispers”. We must fight the desires that then encompass our mind and manifest in our actions. Every victory begins with proper preparation. For the youth today, this preparation is knowledge. Young Muslims intends to provide the blueprints to this knowledge, and urges you to join us in this year’s Youth Conference. With discussions on how to inhale the good and exhale the bad of our environment, whether it comes from our internal selves or it comes from our external surroundings, we want to bring strength and courage to our youth by teaching them what it means to banish the falsehood and stand for the truth.

YM NorthEast Retreat 2014 – Roots of Change: Rising to the Call

When one examines why some youth deviate, a simple but terrifying fact is brought to light - most of the time, the cause is the influence of the friends that surround them. The task of choosing the right friends and companions is essential to preserving our identity. Befriending righteous and virtuous Muslims is one of the prerequisites for staying on the Straight Path and pleasing Allah سبحانه وتعالى. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "A person follows the Deen (way of life) of his close friend; therefore let each of you look carefully at whom he chooses for friends." [Tirmidhi] Have fun this summer on August 13th to the 17th and also learn what it really means to be a Muslim youth in America! Activities: Dam Rappling Whitewater Rafting High Rope Courses Canoeing Sitting Around Camp Fire Late Night Jinn Stories Basketball Football Soccer Capture The Flag Swimming Chillin' Hiking Prank-ing And Much Much More! Age: 14 to 25 (Brothers only) Speakers: TBA Price: $250 (includes food, and transportation; Financial Aid is available*) Limited Seats Available Register at : https://ymsite.com/v2/neretreat2014 *Financial Aid given on a case by case basis. YOUTH CONFERENCE 2014

Amidst a constant onslaught of societal pressures, media propaganda, and internal struggles, many Muslim youth find themselves being increasingly torn away from their religion and experiencing a crisis of faith. Where was Allah (God) when I was experiencing difficulty? Why is it that everything fun in life is deemed haram (unlawful)? Why do all of my efforts toward Islam seem to go unrewarded? What am I really working toward? It becomes easier to conform to an atheistic society than to expend effort in practicing a religion. In order to provide a remedy for this epidemic crisis of faith, Young Muslims urges you to join them for the Youth Conference 2014. This is a conference created and organized by the youth for the youth. Focused on specific contemporary issues that young adults face, the Youth Conference 2014 aims to provide relevant, applicable answers to questions that seem to be unanswerable. A crisis brings temporary hardships, but the guidance of Allah (SWT) brings everlasting tranquility and ease. "Allah says, 'I am as my servant expects Me to be, and I am with him when he remembers me. If he thinks of Me, I think of him. If he mentions Me in company, I mention him in an even better company. When he comes closer to Me by a handspan, I come closer to him an arm's length. If he draws closer to Me by an arm's length, I draw closer by a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him. If my servant comes to Me walking, I go to him running." (Al-Bukhari)

Youth Conference 2013 - The Seekers: A Quest for Hope

Young Muslims Present: 15th Annual Youth Conference The Seekers: A Quest for Hope Hope, something we have almost lost, especially in terms of forgiveness from our Lord. Hope, something we need to reconquer; a torch we need to relight. As Muslims, we must remember that regardless of the amount of sins we accumulate, Allah is the most merciful. The Muslim youth need to realize that it is not too late, that they should never despair in the mercy of their Lord. It is a part of our job to keep the torch of Islam from dying out. Because we have this responsibility on our shoulders, we need to be more hopeful in terms of deen (religion) as well as duniya (worldly matters). We need to have hope in people and in Allah. We need to introduce change in society, build a social conscious, and encourage unity as Muslims. We need to be the great people we were meant to be, taking back our title, our story. We have the ability to make a difference. We are the generation that will take over. We are the ambassadors of this deen. We are the seekers of hope that will bring about a better tomorrow. Come join us on this journey this Memorial Day Weekend! Confirmed Speakers: Noman Ali Khan Imam Omar Suleiman Imam Suhaib Webb Ustadh Wisam Sharieff Sheikh Abdul Nasir Jangda Imam Siraj Wahhaj More to come! **Register Online @ http://ymsite.com/youthconference/

Yasin Ahmed Brothers Only Sahoor will be provided $5 admission fee YM - Facilitating the Youth in Becoming the Future www.icnaym.org info@icnaym.org Speakers Bio: Br. Omar Zia: Omar Zia is an Educator working with the Peel School Board. He us a well-known Khatib and lecturer in Toronto. He holds a B.Sc., B.Ed. (Science/English) and a Master of Education degree. Br. Omar Zia currently works as the Curricular Head of Student Services: Guidance Counselor, Student Success Site Coordinator and Special Education Services Program Coordinator, at TL Kennedy SS with the Peel District School Board. Shaykh Faraz Rabbani: Shaykh Faraz describes himself as a "global nomad", as he spent his childhood in Canada, England, Egypt, and Spain, before returning to Canada to complete his high school and university studies. Having come from so many places, when he began to reflect on who he was, he discovered the only clear answer was "a Muslim." And so began his journey as a student of knowledge. At university, he became active with the Muslim Students Association at a local and national level. He helped develop MSA National's MSA Starter's Guide and founded and ran The Muslim Voice, MSA University of Toronto's magazine, now in its 17th year. He also founded and ran the first online African news service (Africa-N), and worked as an editor on his college paper, The Strand. Even while completing his Bachelors in Economics and Commerce at the University of Toronto, Shaykh Faraz developed a deep interest in Islamic learning, studying with local scholars such as Shaykh Talal al-Ahdab and Shaykh Faisal Abdur-Razak. After graduating from the University of Toronto in 1997, he and his wife (Ustadha Shireen Ahmed) travelled to Damascus and then to Amman, where he studied with leading Islamic scholars, including Shaykh Adib Kallas (Allah have mercy upon him), Shaykh Hassaan al-Hindi, Shaykh Muhammad Jumuah, Shaykh Akram Abd al-Wahhab, and Shaykh Nuh Keller. In 2001, Shaykh Faraz began answering questions for his family and friends online; this grew into the Hanafi Fiqh list at Yahoo Groups. On the advice of his teachers, the SunniPath web site was created, which featured both a question/answer service and online Islamic courses. After ten years overseas, Shaykh Faraz returned to Canada in the Summer of 2007. In May 2008 he founded SeekersGuidance to deal with the urgent need to spread Islamic knowledge--both online and on the ground--in a reliable, relevant, inspiring, and accessible manner. Shaykh Faraz has been encouraged by his teachers and other leading scholars to work towards establishing a model Islamic seminary that will produce Islamic scholars of the highest caliber, through excellence in teaching, curriculum, spiritual training, and a deep spirit of service--with knowledge of both religion and contemporary social and intellectual realities. This is key to the long-term vision of SeekersGuidance (www.SeekersGuidance.org). Shaykh Faraz also serves as a partner and legal advisor with StraightWay Ethical Advisory. He is the author of Absolute Essentials of Islam: Faith, Prayer, and the Path of Salvation According to the Hanafi School (White Thread Press, 2004.) In 2009, Shaykh Faraz was named one of the 500 most influential Muslims by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center. His personal interests include reading, both in English and Arabic. He is very interested in management, economics, environmental matters, international development, technology (especially in its social, human, and spiritual impact), law, theology, and spirituality. He loves classical Islamic poetry and singing--but cautions that moderation is needed in listening to even permissible music, as the Qur'an should be given primacy in one's life over all other interests. He has been a keynote speaker at various major conventions across the globe including ICNA-MAS, ISNA and United for Change Conferences. Br. Yasin Ahmed: Currently residing in Oakville, Yasin is the visionary behind KHATEEBtrainer. He is a regular khateeb at various Masjids and Universities throughout the city and an aspiring student learning from teachers such as Dr. Iqbal Masood Al-Nadvi, Sh. Bilal Ismeal, Sh. Riad Ouarzazi, and others.

M.I.A-Modesty In Action hosted by YM Chicago & Loyola Chicago MSA

Whether it’s in school, online, or in the comforts of our homes, preserving our modesty is something we struggle with on a daily basis. Try as we might, we often find this struggle to be a losing battle. But what is modesty in Islam really all about? How exactly can it make me a better person? Where do I begin to make modesty a part of my life? The prophet (saw) said, “Modesty does not produce but goodness (Bukhari and Muslim).” Join us as brother Azam Hashmi and brother Faizan Mumtaz discuss this crucial aspect of our faith and uncover a characteristic that is so often overlooked. Speakers: Brother Faizan Mumtaz & Brother Azam Hashmi For more information about Young Muslims visit... http://ymsite.com/home/ For more information about Loyola MSA visit... http://www.loyolamsa.com/ The event will be streaming LIVE starting at 7pm inshAllah!! ICNA YM Presents: The Pursuit of Truth

*** Note: You may attend the first class for free and decide afterwards if you want to register.*** Course Outline: In current times, many youth in their quest for knowledge delve into specified and advanced Islamic teachings. However, sometimes a gap exists where many of the core fundamental teachings, the spirit of religion, and basic knowledge of life's questions are not clearly understood. This course hopes to address this concern and grant the students with a firm and solid understanding in the core objectives of their religion. The topics are chosen to raise discussion and encourage critical thinking. The instructor is known for using a variety of visual chart/diagrams to promote a more academic-style of teaching that students may relate to. The classes will also include activities arranged by the YM team, aside from a lecture-format, to help students form their own conclusions through their own thought process. All students are encouraged to attend; the course will revisit and may cause us to re-think some of our most basic assumptions of Islam. Registration will be handled after the first class. Young Muslims (YM) - Classical Arabic Classes

Young Muslims (YM) - Peel Chapter Proudly Presents: Classical Arabic Classes Learn Arabic Grammar and Vocabulary the Traditional Way! Why learn Arabic? We all must admit that too many of us unfortunately don't appreciate the importance of understanding the Quran. Were quite satisfied to recite it without knowing the meaning, without caring to understand it. However it's absolutely essential that we understand the Quran in it's original text, as the translation in any language doesn't completely convey the full message of the Quran and it's beauty and is simply inferior to the original copy of the Quran. The Quran is considered the peak of Arabic literature! From the literary point of view, the Quran is regarded as a specimen of the purest Arabic, written on half poetry and half prose. It has been said that in some cases grammarians have adopted their rules to agree with certain phrases and expressions used in it, and that though several attempts have been made to produce a work equal to it as far elegant writing is concerned, none has as yet succeeded. "The best among you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it." (Bukhari). About the Instructor: Ustadh Mohammad Mohammadi is a renowned Arabic instructor (with a staggering amount of knowledge in the language) and was born and raised in Iran. He accepted Sunni Islam after his long journey and struggle for the truth. He used to walk miles daily to various Masajid's to find a religious leader who could give satisfactory and rational answers to his questions regarding both philosophy and theology. He later discovered one of the greatest scholars in the Persian world. After studying Arabic and the Islamic Sciences extensively he then later left for England to study engineering on an academic scholarship. During his time in the United Kingdom he was the head of Arabic studies at the Liverpool Muslim Society also known as Al Rahma Mosque. When he came to Canada he taught Arabic and the Islamic Sciences at Understand Quran Academy, Masjid Al-Farooq and various other insitutes and Masajid's. Ustadh Mohammad is very well known for his critical thinking, wisdom, rationalism, remarkable teaching skills and immense knowledge in both Arabic and Persian. Walking with the Light of the Quran, presented by Young Muslims Chicago

Come join us this Friday as we kickoff the 2011 Quran Conference at Waterford Center with an amazing talk with Prof. Nouman Ali Khan and Prof. Omer Mozaffer! For most of us Quran, our interaction with the Quran is about reading it and reciting. However, we should understand that Quran is not just a book meant to be read or recited, but to be understood. It is only through understanding it that we can truly use the Quran for what it has been given to us for: Guidance. However, reading the Quran for guidance can be a daunting task since many of us don't have the scholarly knowledge necessary to do it, and because of that, we are intimidated by trying to understand a book with so much meaning and so much guidance. We must keep in mind though that the Quran is a book for all of mankind, not just those with scholarly knowledge. We may not have the insights to find deep meaning, but we can all begin at some point and build a relationship with the Quran. Insha'Allah, Our speakers will discuss why it is important to understand the Quran, and how one can use to make changes their personal life.

YM ACTIVATE+

YM Brothers presents: YM ACTIVATE+ Two one-day events with one goal: to make life easy! We know growing up can be difficult. A young man's teenage years are some of the most stressful, emotional and confusing of his life. If nothing else, they're the most changing years: one day a sweet chubby boy - the next, a bean pole with body odour and a caterpillar above his top lip... ...and didn’t life seem so hard in high school – but now that I’ve left, I feel like I’ve been plucked from my warm bed and thrown into the cold, harsh wilderness... ...BUT THAT’S WHERE ACTIVATE+ COMES IN! With the help of top and expert instructors, both local and from a bit further afield, we hope to answer your questions, clear you doubts, ease your confusion and give you a firm handshake into your new-found Muslim manliness! To allow us to focus on the issues facing particular age groups, we have split ACTIVATE+ into two events: MONDAY 15th AUGUST - 11-15 years: for brothers in the early stages of 'the change'... TUESDAY 16th AUGUST - 16+ years: for brothers leaving high school, or in education/work, and navigating the next phase of life... £4 entry: registration opens at 9.30am, the events start at 10am and run till 5.30pm, including breaks. To register, call 07730 270 443: limited capacity, so first-come, first-served. So grab your bros, your cousins and pals and get yourselves down to ACTIVATE+ ! The programme will be interactive, with topics falling into the following seven themes: 1. Manhood (staying pure; understanding your body, etc – topics vary by age group) 2. Girls & Boys (boundaries; urges) 3. Friends (peer pressure; selection; music) 4. Education (study and time management) 5. Marriage (value; selecting a wife – senior group only) 6. 12th National Junior Muslim Youth Camp

For Muslim youth(brs and srs) aged 10-15 years old. Be a part of an indescribable experience of friendship, companionship, fun and learning. This is your opportunity to identify as a young Muslim and meet lifelong friends that share your values and morals. What our camps are all about... (Feedback from a parent) "Have been meaning to email you since my son came back from camp but then you know how it goes....just wanted to say thank-you to all of the sisters/brothers that make the YMA Camp possilbe. I must admit I was a bit hesitant to send my son but then after speaking with a fellow YMA student who reassured me it is a life time experience I just knew he had to go and really it was one of the best decisions I've made for him. He has always been a good boy but since coming back, there is such a positive change, he's really matured and is forever telling us everything that went on I felt as if I'd missed out on such a spiritual event. He wakes up and prays Fajr without hesitation, he always use to read Quran at night but now we can hear him from our bedroom and he read with so much love and his pronounciation is just amazing and also with this beautiful flow. He said he loved going to Ustadh Mahmud's lectures even though it was at 11pm at night he said to me "mum when brother Mahmud speaks he speaks to the heart" its so nice to see my son love Islam and not be forced into doing it. He said he has learnt so much in the time he was there and he would definately go again! May allah swt reward everyone that puts so much effort into this whole event, Ameen!" Walking the Straight Path by: Northwestern McSA & YM Chicago

There is a Hadith of Ayesha (RA), which described the Prophet (SAWS) as a walking Quran. Join us and inshAllah get a taste of how a proper approach to the Quran can enlighten you with regards to your relationship with your Lord, your fellow human beings and the world around you.
