The term spiritual bypassing is defined as using "spiritual ideas and practices to sidestep or avoid facing unresolved emotional issues, psychological wounds, and unfinished developmental tasks." Those engaged in it often do so unaware, using spiritual practices to numb themselves or to avoid what’s real, rather than offering a more grounded “radically alive and naturally integral” spiritual practice.

This 6-week course, taught by mindfulness teacher Micah Anderson, will teach the basics of this common pitfall. The course will use the text, Spiritual Bypassing: When Spirituality Disconnects Us from What Really Matters by Robert Augustus Masters, PhD., and will offer readings, discussions, and guided meditations to help us understand this important concept.
