Dr. Hawa Abdi Foundation is a grass-roots NGO managed and run by a family of women doctors. The foundation has created a safe haven for thousands of internally displaced persons in Somalia while providing free healthcare and education services. Dr. Deqo Mohamed, CEO, is daughter of the Noble Peace Prize nominee, Dr. Hawa Abdi. Dr. Mohamed along with her mother and sister won the Glamour women of the year award in 2010. They are champions for women's rights in Somalia and continue to serve as a powerful example of women as peace agents in the region. Please join us for a conversation with Dr. Mohamed along with a screening of 'Through the Fire', a documentary film highlighting the story of three extraordinary Somali women and their role in rebuilding Somalia.
