'Today, we are facing the two worlds defined by the West and the East, the Occident and the Orient, by ‘us’ and ‘them’. Over the course of decades, and to the dismay of each other, both the orientalists and the inhabitants of the Orient themselves, contributed to a process of mutual misunderstanding, misperception, and miscalculation. There is a job to be done for those who are eager to mitigate this East-West gap in trust and understanding; and to elevate the awareness of both the oriental and occidental public and elites. In this event, our speakers from Royal Holloway’s Centre for Islamic and West Asian Studies would try to share their ideas over this dilemma'. External Event Url
