The Muslim Community of Knoxville would like to invite you and your families to the city of Knoxville's annual MLK, Jr. Parade commemorating the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 15th. We will gather at Masjid Annoor at 8:00 AM and carpool to the parade no later than 8:30 AM which begins on Martin Luther King Avenue.
Please wear your finest RED, WHITE, & BLUE!
The parade is approximately 2 miles long. Please ensure you are dressed warmly in case it's very cold. All signage and posters will be provided.
We want this year’s parade participation to be the best ever so bring your friends and family and help spread the word!!
It is the civil rights laws that Dr. King and others gave their lives for in the 1960s that we regularly benefit from and use to practice our religion. Dr. King's hope for equality was also expressed by our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who said in his final sermon:
"All mankind is from Adam and Eve...a white (person) has no superiority over a black (person), nor does a black have any superiority over a white - except by piety and good action."
Please join us with many other civil, community, and faith-based groups in this multi-cultural event. Let's take this opportunity to stand as a diverse, unified community and give back to the civil rights movement whose work we benefit from everyday. External Event Url
