This is part of a campus/community scholar-led book discussion series which, through a variety of genres, we will engage with literature and each other on the persistent and pressing topics of racism, war, and genocide.

The Jan. 23rd session will feature "A Golden Age" by Tahmima Anam. It's the Bangladesh-born writer Tahmima Anam's first novel. It tells the story of the Bangladesh War of Independence through the eyes of one family.

This book discussion event will begin with a short lecture from Dr. Cara Cilano, Chair in the Department of English. After her lecture, we'll break up into smaller groups for discussions of the book, facilitated by graduate students. At the end of the evening, the full group will reconvene for final discussion and questions with Dr. Cilano.

***Participants are encouraged to read the book ahead of time. For more information, including how to obtain the books, see: https://libguides.lib.msu.edu/muslimstudies/muslimjourneys

This is FREE and open to the public! Light refreshments will be provided.
