Save the date for the next Friends for Good Continuing Conversation dessert potluck event, Sunday evening, July 23rd, from 6:00-7:45pm, at Trinity Fellowship Church. Continuing Conversations are opportunities for us to reconnect with friends from the introductory FFG dinner series, make new friends and engage in interesting and challenging discussions from the point of view of our faith traditions.

The topic for this event is “When Religion is Easy, But Life is Hard”. How does faith meet practice? What happens when we are forced to confront personal situations or issues in society that may be contrary to our beliefs, for instance when those whom we love hold values and beliefs that run counter to much of what we believe in? For some, questions of abortion, divorce, LGBT, personal morality or practice, clothing/head covering, and women’s rights, etc. challenge their faith and beliefs. For Unitarians, it could be the struggle to respect and hold dear people whose beliefs are in conflict with our commitment to gender, racial and economic justice. So - how do we respond when our own beliefs bring us into direct conflict with real-life situations in which our faith assumptions may be called into question?

We’ll hear from members of each congregation as they share real life stories from within each faith tradition on the personal challenges of resolving difficult issues and living authentically in the 21st century. There will also be plenty of time for discussion. External Event Url
