So What Inspired the Tour?

As we look around, the world seems to be on fire. Every other day, news unfolds about a new crisis: refugees fleeing oppression and the horrors of war, drone strikes and suicide bombings, or senseless communal violence. At every juncture, Muslims are busy protesting, debating, engaging, building, petitioning, negotiating or repudiating. In the effort to seek justice, we are often times unjust to ourselves. We neglect the care and attention that our spirit requires at the expense of social activism. For many of us, the turbulence experienced in the outside world is internalized, creating states of anxiety, agitation, and even depression. What can we do to ensure that our hearts are nourished and remain steadfast in the face of such overwhelming challenges? How can we apply the prophetic example of introspection and self-discipline in our daily practice?

To answer the many questions that we face collectively, we are attempting to bring together some of the leading Muslim voices, specially amongst our young leaders, and have an inspiration tour across 5 cities, that will connect with the wide cross section of our community.

This is an initiative to bring the experience of RIS to multiple cities, with what one can call a 'sneak preview' of what the 3 Day conference hopes to accomplish. But more importantly it is an attempt to deal with some crucial conversations, tough questions, and what is on the minds of our youth. This is intended to be a beginning of such engagement and a new direction that RIS hopes to play a part in, in inspiring our community to it's potential and together making our world better with no barriers and more understanding.
