- Community Tree Protection

Help protect trees by removing and bagging invasive English ivy. Volunteers should bring a reusable water bottle and any service learning forms, and wear weather-appropriate clothing including closed-toed shoes. All training and materials will be provided, and bagels and coffee will be served.

- Lunches for the DC Metropolitan area’s homeless

A popular effort returns this year: IRUSA will pack and deliver some 1,000 bagged lunches for our neighbors in need. This is a family-friendly effort, and is suitable for younger volunteers. The lunches will be put together at IRUSA headquarters, and then delivered.
Time: Volunteers must promptly meet at 11 a.m. at IRUSA Headquarters. The effort will end around 1 p.m.

- Islamic Heritage Museum - Monthly Food Distribution

In coordination with America's Islamic Heritage Museum, IRUSA will be distributing hot meals and produce to local families in need as well as hot coco/coffee to MLK parade participants. Be a part of this special effort on this historic day, and meet the museum's owner and curator, Amir Muhammad.
Time: Volunteers must promptly meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Islamic Heritage Museum. The effort will end around 2 p.m.

- Food Drive for FAITH

In coordination with FAITH, IRUSA will be collecting food donations at a local grocery store in Herndon. Volunteers will greet shoppers and ask them to purchase items on a shopping list to donate to FAITH. As participating shoppers exit the store, there will be collection boxes to drop off their donations. Once all collections are complete, volunteers will then deliver the items to the FAITH
Time: Volunteers must promptly meet at 10 a.m. at the Safeway on Elden St. The effort will end around 12:30 p.m.

- Food Drive for Arlington Food Assistance Center

In coordination with the Arlington Food Assistance Center, IRUSA will be collecting food donations at local grocery stores in Alexandria and Arlington. Volunteers will greet shoppers and ask them to purchase items on a shopping list to donate to AFAC. As participating shoppers exit the store, there will be collection boxes to drop off their donations. Once all collections are complete, volunteers will then deliver the items to the Arlington Food Assistance Center.
Time: Volunteers must promptly meet at 10 a.m. at IRUSA Headquarters to be given their grocery store station. The effort will end around 12:30 p.m.
