What is civic engagement?
Civic engagement means working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make that difference. It means promoting the quality of life in a community, through both political and non-political processes.

Emerge USA's Florida chapter seeks to engage, educate and empower Muslim, South Asian and Arab American (MASA) communities through educational events, voter initiatives, and leadership development for the purpose of creating a community of equitable, knowledgeable, and motivated citizens.

We are very pleased to have our guest speaker Sister Yemen Monessar join us! Sister Yemen is the Orlando Regional Coordinator for Emerge USA's Florida chapter. She received her degree in Islamic Studies and in Dawah, Quranic reading and understanding and the study of World’s Religions from the Islamic American University as well Islamic Online University of Dr. Bilal Phillps. Currently she’s an instructor of youth program as well as adult classes, converts, Interfaith in various community centers. American-Muslim educator, and lecturer motivational speaker has presented at several colleges, universities, professional student organizations and community colleges for college students self-application, Islamic -education, time management, academic goal setting.
