0.0000Shaykh Omar Suleiman: Through The Fire
Would you seek the truth……despite the cost? Imprisoned by his father, betrayed by scholarly authority and enslaved in a strange land: All obstacles on the arduous Journey of Salman the Persian. This is the story of one man’s struggle to find the truth. Relive the journey as Salman journeys from Persia to Syria to Arabia…as a Zoroastrian priest, a dedicated Christian, and finally a Companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The Unique Vantage Point in a World Awaiting Muhammad ﷺ Islam came to the Arabs, whereas Salman traversed from outside the Arab world searching high and low. He brought with him insight and experience strange to the Arabs of the time: -Intimate view of the Persian and Roman empires of the time -Time spent in Persia as a Zoroastrian Fire Keeper -Experience with the dying strands of early Christianity -Study in Nestorian churches of each town he visited -Entering Madinah recognizing it as the prophesied city of the Prophet -Powerful moment of meeting the Prophet ﷺ for the very first time Overcome Your Own Struggles With Seeking the Truth. Every path to truth is met with obstacles. Most experience just one or two, whereas Salman encountered them all. -Non-practicing and/or adversarial parents -Corrupted teachers and scholarly leadership -Lack of resources -Face of doubt and insecurities -Alienation and isolation upon accepting the truth -Classical sources in foreign languages How the Prophet ﷺ Treated Salman Not only are there lessons for every truth seeker… ...learn how the Prophet ﷺ cared, integrated, welcomed and learned from Salman the Persian. These are lessons for anyone with: -an inquisitive mind -a friend asking critical questions about Islam -a family member coming back to religion -a convert community trying to transition -anyone struggling with the truth The Prophet ﷺ placed his hand upon Salman’s and said, “By the One in whose Hand is my soul! If faith were on Pleiades (the stars) then men among these people would reach it.” [Tirmidhi] This IlmNight, transform your relationship with your own personal path to the truth.

0.0000Boston Muslim Symposium
The first Boston Muslim Symposium is an initiative born out of a desire to promote a more united Greater Boston college community and a vision for a strengthened Ummah. The theme of our symposium will be The Ummah Umbrella: Come As You Are, To Islam As It Is. The Ummah is hurting, unceasing wars, oppressive tyranny, cold-blooded genocide, global economic disparity, man-made famine, relentless Islamophobia, divisive sectarianism, rampant individualism and materialism, creeping secularism, agenda-driven liberalism, moral degradation and the breakdown of the family, the list of challenges goes on and on. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us the Ummah of believers is like one body, when one part of it aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever. In order to meaningfully find solutions to the problems ailing our communities, we must first build a beloved community rooted in love, compassion, empathy, inclusion, and support of one another. The symposium will be a unique spiritual experience for our hearts and souls while simultaneously addressing core communal issues and reaffirming our commitment to the shared values our Ummah holds dear. Join us for what will be an enlightening and faithful day! Location: Boston University Photonics Colloquium Room 9th Floor, 8 St Marys St, Boston, MA 02215 Registration is free but suggested $5 donation is appreciated! For any questions, or if your MSA would like to co-sponsor email youth@masboston.org

0.000030 for 30 Ramadan Challenge 2016
Ramadan Kareem everyone!!! During this blessed month, it is important to maintain a strong connection with the Holy Book of Islam, the Quran. Therefore, we present the Ramadan 30 for 30 Challenge, an ISBU tradition that is in its third year now. Although Surat Al-Rahman has over 30 ayahs (verses), we will still cover it's entirity within the 30 days of Ramadan. For every day of the 30 days of Ramadan, we will present a few ayahs and tie them to the overall tafsir or explanation of the chapter. The tafsir is taken from Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi. The best way to get closer to the Quran during the month of Ramadan is to memorize and understand it. Therefore, with every day of Ramadan, we challenge you to memorize 2-3 of the 73 ayahs of the surah, so that by the end of Ramadan, we will have memorized the entire surah. We will post the verse and its translation every day here on our Facebook page. In addition, there will be a small trivia question at the end of every post on the content presented. The answer to the question will be given in the next day's post.

0.0000General Body Meeting
First general body meeting of the year! Come see what ISBU has in store for the semester, share your own ideas, and learn about other ways to get involved. This will be the first of many conversations between EBoard and the general body; so come prepared to discuss any comments, opinions, suggestions, or ideas that you have for us to implement. We want to make sure your voices are being heard. All are welcome to attend.
