From Islamophobia subway advertisements to hate-inspired mock cartoon contests, from armed and angry protesters outside mosques to denigrating You Tube videos, from vitriolic political rhetoric by elected officials to anti Muslim Facebook posts by public school administrators , American Muslims are increasingly wondering about appropriate, effective responses and remedies to expressions of anti-Muslim hate.
The issues to be discussed on the topic of :Freedom of Speech in a multi ethnic society, concern issues such as legal limitation, the difference between "hate speech" and legitimate "satire", and the tension between the First Amendment , liberties and respect for religious and other minorities.
On Sunday, November 15, 2015 the Religious Events Planning Committee (REPC) of the Islamic Society of Central Jersey (ISCJ) will host an important Conference titled:
"Freedom of Speech & Expression: Accountability & Limitation" Is there a line to be drawn? Where a full spectrum of dynamic speakers will address these challenging questions for the benefit of the American Society.
