Every March 8th, International Women’s Day highlights women’s achievements and advancements – from the social, economic, cultural to the political. As well as the challenges women and girls still face. This year we are having a faith inspired event. We are discussing historical women of faith- and how one can benefit from their lessons and strengths in today's times.

Hear from inspiring panelists about the women of faith that inspire them and how one can derive direction, inspiration and strength from their lives.

Our panelists are: Rev. Carol Cavin-Dillon of West End United Methodist Church
Carol Grady Mansour of Baha'is of Nashville
Sarah Levine of West End Synagogue
Aisha Lbhalla of The Muslim Women's Council

Also join us in recognizing an outstanding woman and youth within each faith with our “Faith in Action” Awards.
Awardees not only serve their faith community but the greater community too. Awardees embody any or all of these values:

*Peacemaking…In their life work and/or in the community
*Tending to the “least of these”…Visiting the sick or imprisoned, feeding the hungry, giving shelter to the homeless
*Caring for creation…Being good stewards of God’s creation be it mankind, animal kind or the environment
*Loving your neighbor… Reaching across divisions in our culture and community to form a common ground of care and concern.

Additionally, there will be a Self Defense demo with Sensei Liz Fitzgerald of KSA Martial Arts, Spoken Word Poems, Henna Tattooing and Refreshments.

The Muslim Women’s Council "Daughters of Eve" initiative brings women from various faith traditions together to foster mutual respect and understanding through discussion, shared goals, breaking bread and community service. External Event Url
