Black History Month: Standing up to Prejudice and Racism
Black History month is a time to learn about the struggles and achievement of African Americans, and their rich culture and contributions to human civilization. Black History month is also a time to reaffirm the struggle and determination to fight prejudice and racism. Today, we can see an across-the-board attack and lessening of civil rights and equal treatment for others rooted in Racism and Islamophobia. Given the climate, how do Islam and Muslims address these challenges?
Islamic Center of Tennessee and Muslim Women's Council invites our neighbors and fellow Americans to come and join the Muslim community for a Black History program. The program starts with a mosque tour followed by a Friday sermon by our guest speaker from Chattanooga, Hammad Al Amin. This will be followed by traditional sweets and snacks served to guests. The event is children friendly, so feel free to bring your kids.
