ICGA is pleased to work with Guidance College on the hot topic of Islamic Finance and Cryptocurrency with Dr. Maan. Dr. Maan will be giving the Jummah Khutbah at 1PM Night Program: 7:30PM About Dr. Maan Dr Maan is an experienced lecturer in Islamic Studies. In his teaching career, he has provided instruction and training to learners at schools as well as college level. He also served as an Imam of several Islamic centers throughout the United States and abroad. Additionally, he is a certified as a memorizer of the whole Qur’an with an Ijazah (License) to teach it to others. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2004 in the science and technology of Economics in Islam from the American Open University. His received his masters in Islamic Studies in 1996 from Al-Yarmook University, Jordan and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics, 1991 from Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt. He has a certification to recite and teach Quran (Ijazah) and memorization with an uninterrupted chain of correct readers that continues back to the Prophet Muhammad (prayers and peace be upon him. Currently the shaykh is an assistant professor of Islamic studies in the American Open University and an Imam of MAS Katy Center in Houston Texas. He was the acting academic dean and Assistant professor at Islamic American University and a research assistant at Al-Yarmook University.

He was born and raised in the Dallas area. At the age of 10 he went to Karachi, Pakistan to memorize the Quran. He excelled in his memorization and committed the entire Quran to memory in less than 1 year. He then returned home and continued his school education. After graduating from High School, he went back to Karachi to study the Alim Course at Jamia Binoria. He graduated from the rigorous 7 year program in 2002 at the top of his class and with numerous Ijaazaat (Licenses) in various Islamic Sciences. Along with the Alim Course he concurrently completed a B.A. and M.A. in Arabic from Karachi University. He also obtained a Masters in Islamic Studies from the University of Sindh. He taught Arabic at the University of Texas at Arlington from 2005 to 2007. He has served as an instructor and curriculum advisor to various Islamic schools and Islamic studies programs. He served as the Imam at the Colleyville Masjid in the Dallas area for 3 years. He is a founding member and chairman of Mansfield Islamic Center. His latest projects include Quran Intensive (a summer program focusing on Arabic grammar and Tafsir), Quranic analysis lectures, Khateeb Training, chronicling of the Prophetic Biography at www.qalaminstitute.org, and personally mentoring and teaching his students at the Qalam Seminary.

The Islamic Center of Greater Austin and Amoud Foundation, is hosting a Quran Night and Dua Night for the people of Aleppo with Qari Mohamed Jebril. We are hosting a Prayer and Dua, so all can come together as a community and pray for the people of Aleppo in Syria. As a community at ICGA, we might be feeling helpless over the genocide that is occurring in Aleppo, feeling this immense amount of guilt and wanting to do something for the people of Aleppo. So what do we do? The most powerful thing as Muslims we can do is to make a collective prayer- So lets come together next Friday on December 23rd, for this special prayer and Dua. We will be having World Renowned Qari Mohamed Jebri, reciting Quran and giving a special Dua. About Qari Mohamed Jebril: He meorized the Quran at the age of 9 and won a number of national and international competitions of Quran recitation. He studied at Al-Azhar University and received a B.A in Sharia and Law; he also went to the University of Jordan and worked as a lecturer and author of some religious programs for the Jordanian television. Since 1988 and during the holy month of Ramadan, Shaykh Jebril has led the Tarawih prayers at the Amru Ibnu Aass mosque in Egypt. He was also appointed as supervisor of the establishment of the International Islamic Center of Quranic Sciences in Cairo.

Sheikh Abdullah Oduro will be giving the Jummah Khutbah at 1PM at ICGA and the Friday Night Program will be after Maghreb. There will be a community dinner InshAllah! Please invite your freinds and family! Abdullah Oduro was born in Arlington, Texas and raised in Houston, TX. His father came to America in the early seventies to study Architecture. A couple of years later, Abdullah Oduro was born; making him the first generation American in his family tree. With his mother being very spiritual and father very analytical, it was very easy for him to accept the message of Islam. He converted to Islam in 1997 in Houston, TX. Obtained his Associates from Houston Community College in Surgical Technology in 1998. He then worked in the OR as a Surgical Tech till 2000. In 1998, he made Hajj; getting lost in Mina and not being able to speak the language sparked his desire to learn Arabic and the religion. After much prayer and studying, he was accepted to the University of Al-Madinah, Saudi Arabia in 1999. Abdullah had the privilege of learning under numerous scholars from various sciences. He graduated from the faculty of Islamic Law 2007. He served as a Director for MAS youth from 2008- 2010. A year later, he was able to complete his memorization of the Quran. He is also the Founder and Director of KnewU: A non profit organization that serves as a social and educational resource for those that convert to Islam or renew their faith. (www.knewu.org) He is also the Founder, Director, and Instructor for “Taysir”: a cultural education company that focuses primarily on Islamic literacy. Abdullah Oduro conducts public speeches, sermons, lectures and workshops around the US on Islamic Law, self improvement, and interfaith. He resides in Houston, TX with his wife and four children.
