Dr. Seyyed Hossein Nasr is a professor of Islamic studies at George Washington University, and an Islamic philosopher. He has authored over 50 books and 500 articles spanning topics from metaphysics and Islamic philosophy to religion and the environment. Most recently, he led a team of distinguished scholars to publish The Study Quran, a renowned English translation with extensive commentary drawn from a broad range of Islamic sources.
Dr. Seyyed Hossein Nasr received his undergraduate degree in physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he also studied metaphysics and philosophy. He went on to receive a master’s degree in geology and geophysics followed by a PhD in the history of science and learning from Harvard University. He held academic positions at numerous institutions, including Tehran University, the University of Edinburgh, and Temple University, prior to his current position at The George Washington University, where he has been since 1984.
Children’s Programs
Two children’s programs will be offered during the lecture and dinner for ages 4-8 and 9-11. Children 12 and up are welcome to join their parents for Dr. Seyyed Hossein Nasr’s lecture.
