Join us in a week of Islamic Awareness programming and learn a thing or two about Islam, have your questions answered, and engage in discussion! The events will run from February 6th through 10th, and all are welcome to attend!

Here are the events:

DEAN'S DINNER ON COMMONS
Monday, 2/6 @ 6:30, Dean's residence
● Dinner and Discussion regarding Islam and the impact of media with Dean Beasley. This event open for all freshmen who RSVP to the Dean's Dinner invitation that will be sent out a week prior.

WORLD HIJAB DAY
Tuesday, 2/7
● Women of all faiths are challenged to wear a hijab for a full day to experience first-hand what Muslim women go through on a daily basis, and at the end of the day, everyone is invited to dinner to reflect on and discuss their experience from the day.
● Hijab wrapping will take place at the Commons Fireside Lounge and in Rand 306
● A dinner and reflection will be held in Kissam C216 at 6:30 PM

ISLAM 101
Wednesday, 2/8 @ 6:30, Commons MPR 237
● In collaboration with the Martha Rivers Ingram Commons, we will host guest speaker and president of the Islamic Center of Nashville, Rashed Fakhruddin! For this event, Br. Rashed will give a presentation (the very same one that he gave to all the Nashville mayoral candidates earlier this year) about the general beliefs and practices in Islam and help address some common misunderstandings about the religion.

THE FIGHT FOR FREEDOM: Combatting Islamophobia and Organizing for Social Justice
Thursday, 2/9 @ 6:30, BCC Auditorium 118
● The Muslim Students Association and the Black Cultural Center will be hosting guest speaker Zulfat Suara, who is one of the most outspoken Muslim activists in TN and advocate for organizing against all social injustices. Ms. Suara will be talking about taking an active stance against Islamophobia and other injustices while collaborating with other groups in order to fight for our collective rights..

MEET A MUSLIM
Mon-Fri, 2/6-2/10 @ 11AM-1PM, Sarratt Promenade
