"Exploring Religious Landscapes" Spring 2018 - Communicating Our Heart's Desire: Prayer Across Faith Traditions

The aim of this 4-part series (stand-alone classes, attend as many as you are able) is to “dive deep” into specific textual, theological & sociological aspects & attributes of prayer in different faith traditions.

Cost: $20.00 per event, or $60.00 for the 4-program series.

Islamic Prayer
Thursday Evening, April 26th * 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Muslim Unity Center * 1830 W Square Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills
Explore with Imam Mohamed Almasmari, spiritual leader of the Muslim Unity Center, the many attributes & fundamentals of prayer in the Muslim faith. A light dinner will be served.

Prayer in Sikh Tradition
Thursday Evening, May 17th * 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Gurdwara Sahib Singh Sabha of Michigan * 3310 S Canton Center Road, Canton
In addition to joining the community for Langar (communal dinner) we will observe Sikh prayer & learn from Sikh teachers about liturgy, sacred objects & prayer practice in the Sikh tradition.

Communities in Conversation: Comparing & Contrasting Prayer in Faith Traditions
Wednesday Evening, June 13th * 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Congregation Beth Shalom * 14601 Lincoln Street, Oak Park
Join leaders representing the monotheistic traditions of Christianity, Islam, Sikhism & Judaism as our moderator guides a panel presentation & discussion. We will conclude our evening together with a dessert reception.
