Prophet Muhammad said that on the Judgement Day, nothing will be heavier on a believer's scale of deeds than having good character. In a one-day immersion course by Usama Canon, we will learn how the Prophet was sent to perfect inner beauty through the exploration of 10 hadith that should shape every Muslim's character. on Friday with a khutba, the Tayseer Seminary Open House at Maghrib time, and a subsequent free evening lecture. On Saturday, Usama teaches a full day of sessions (registration required). Shaykh Hassan Lachheb will also be joining us to launch the course.

NOTE: On Friday, October 23 our teachers will host a panel discussion and Q & A session. They will offer an introduction to the weekend course and discuss the importance of good character. This session is FREE for in-person and online students.

ABOUT THE TEACHER

USTADH USAMA CANON

Raised in California, Ustadh Usama Canon embraced Islam in 1996 and has been a student of the tradition ever since, studying Islam both stateside and abroad with prominent Muslim scholars. During the last decade, Usama served as the Outreach Director and an Arabic Instructor at Zaytuna Institute, as well as a Muslim Chaplain for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He is the Founding Director of Ta'leef Collective, a trailblazing non-profit focused on assisting converts to Islam and creating healthy social and sacred spaces. As a worldwide speaker, Usama is particularly gifted in teaching Islam in a creative and relevant way while being strongly rooted in the Islamic tradition.

SHAYKH HASSAN LACHHEB is completing a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies at Indiana University. In 2000, he completed his Masters with Honors in Islamic Theology, Islamic Legal Theory, and Maliki Fiqh from Dar al-Hadith al-Hassaniyyah in Rabat, Morocco. He also earned a Bachelors degree in Arabic Language and Literature. Shaykh Hassan has extensively studied several Islamic disciplines, receiving many Ijazaat (licenses to teach).

Currently, he resides with his wife and three children in Knoxville, Tennessee where he teaches at the University and serves as the Muslim community's resident scholar.
