I'takaf at MCC

What is i'tikaf? I'tikaf is to retire to a mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan and to devote oneself exclusively to acts of worship day and night. Doing i'tikaf in the holy month of Ramadan is sunnat-i muakkada. However, because i'tikaf is sunnat-i kifaya, if a few Muslims in a quarter perform it, then this sunnat will lapse from other Muslims. Therefore, those who are able to do so should perform i'tikaf. A person who observes i'tikaf eats, drinks, and sleeps in a mosque. (He who performs i'tikaf for two days in Ramadan receives rewards as if he performed two [voluntary] pilgrimages.) [Bayhaqi] (Performing i'tikaf for a day for the sake of Allah keeps a person much farther away from Hell.) [Tabarani, Hakim] The i'tikaf that is done during the last ten days of Ramadan is sunnat-i kifaya. One can perform it less than this, for a day or for a few hours. It is a condition that a person who is observing i'tikaf should be fasting. If you would like to take part please email info@mcccva.com. It is recommended the you arrive between Asr and Maghrib. Should be in the center before Magrhrib Azan.

Seerah of the Prophet

Weekly Discussion on the Seerah (Life) of Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) All praises and thanks be to Allah, the creator of mankind, jinns and all that exists. The greatest thing that God had offered humanity is that he provided them messengers chosen from among the best of their kind. He disclosed and conferred upon man the Revelation to guide everyone towards the truth, the straight path, as well as warn and deliver people from falsehood and evil, such that they would seek alone His pleasure and satisfaction in pursuit of Paradise. Since time immemorial, God sent prophets after prophets, messages after messages – dating from Noah to Abraham, Moses, Jesus (‘alayhimus salaam) and culminating with the seal of them all, Muhammad (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam), who came to confirm not only the previous messengers but especially that of the universal message which calls people to worship the Creator alone.
