The usrah is a spiritually-focused, activism-oriented program where MAS members meet regularly and develop brotherhood and sisterhood bonds.

The usrah members are expected to participate in outreach and community service work to fulfill the mission of the organization.

This video gives you a primer about what an Usrah is:

Here are comments from members about the usrah program:

- “I like the usrah as it was highly structured with committed members and leader. I benefited a lot."

- “My usrah was a place for me to grow, to learn new things, to practice what I learned. My usrah had a very diverse group of sisters, who shared their experience and reflections with so much love and care. Everyone looked out for each other and supported one another in our individual journeys to come closer to Allah (swt). Though many of us have moved far away, we stay in touch and support one another despite the distance. I always remember my usrah sisters, and it always makes me smile! Alhamdulillah for sisterhood for the sake of Allah!“

- “You get connected to your usrah members and know them closely.”

- "In the usrah you identify goals for your spiritual development which your usrah members help you achieve.”

An Usrah is made of up five to eight individuals who meet weekly to encourage and help one another become better Muslims. The members are similar in age and in their understanding of Islam. The group is led by a Naqeeb. Members meet regularly to study faith, encourage one another to righteousness and good deeds, and renew their commitment to work for Islam. It is an intensive, spiritually-focused, activism-oriented program focused on personal character development.
