ASA,
Bismillah. MAPS Youth (working with youth groups across Puget Sound) will be hosting its large event of the quarter (an event put on by the youth for the larger community) titled "Agents of Oppression." This is our attempt to move beyond our "Say No to Racism" event from last year and look into exploring other manifestations of oppression in our community (racism along with domestic violence and bullying in particular) that can fragment our Muslim communities. The event will be held in the MAPS Gym, it will begin right after Isha Prayer, the youth will show their displays. They will be divided into 4 main categories

- Culture Booths: Groups of 3 will be given a culture different than their own to help develop respect for the diversity of the Muslim ummah)
- Domestic Violence: Research and presentaitons on DV along with resources to help victims
- Bullying: Research and presentations on bullying (physical and cyber) along with resources to help victims
- Prophetic stances: What did the Prophet (saws) have to say about oppressive acts such as racism, bullying and domestic violence

At 9:00pm, there will be a short reminder by Sheikh Hamzah Chaudhry on the topic of oppression and its common manifestations as seen in the Muslim community.

Come out and support YOUR youth and learn about some important topics.

Jazakullah khair and please keep us all in your duas. External Event Url
