Do you have ideas about making Bolingbrook a stronger community? Do you feel you are passionate about an activity we should engage in as MAB? Want to drive value to the community and leave a strong legacy behind? Please read on as we may have a unique opportunity for you to make a difference. Strategic Planning Committee and its objectives Last year in September, under the direction of the MAB Guardian Committee (GC) and the Shura Board of Directors (BoD), a new initiative called the Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) was launched to help define the long term strategic direction of MAB. SPC will act as a facilitator working closely with the BoD, GC and with the community to ensure that any strategic plan shall reflect, to the greatest possible extent, the consensus of the community for MAB’s vision in 2030. To facilitate community engagement and feedback, we have developed a structured framework and we are now ready for the engagement with the community to capture your feedback. We will hold a General Body meeting to accomplish this task. We cannot emphasize enough that the best product of this effort will emerge only with MAXIMUM input from the community and In Sha Allah, your efforts will be rewarded by laying a strong foundation of what MAB will become by 2030. Environmental Service Day: Park Clean Up

Mission of the Program To encourage community involvement and assistance in the ongoing restoration of the District’s natural areas and with the presentation of public programs and special events by providing opportunities for the community to get outdoors, give back, learn new skills, and connect with nature. An opportunity to assist Land Management staff with efforts to restore and protect native ecosystems. To cut brush, build burn piles, pull weeds, harvest seed and perform other tasks during restoration workdays The volunteer program seeks to: Provide opportunities for volunteers to actively participate in and make a meaningful contribution to the restoration goals of the District. Provide volunteers with a positive and pleasant service experience. Build public awareness of the goals and values of the Park District Natural Areas and Nature Programs. Develop greater connections between the Park District and local residents living in and around the Parks and Natural Areas SNAPS is a group that focuses on stewardship of the natural areas. Future opportunities will include; assisting with nature programs, monitoring of natural areas, trail monitoring, seed collection, and community gardens.

MAB Mosque Open House

A few weeks ago, we were blessed by Allah (SWT) to participate in the launch of the 'Liberty & Justice for ALL' billboard campaign, at a press conference held at the Muslim Association of Bolingbrook's Masjid Al-Jumu'ah. The campaign had prime-time news coverage on news outlets including FOX, ABC, WGN, and CLTV news channels. We hope to continue this dialogue inviting ALL of our neighbors of ALL faiths to attend the MAB Mosque Open House, on Saturday, February 18th, 2017 at Masjid Al-Jumu'ah, located at 351 Veterans Pkwy, Bolingbrook, IL 60490. True Love: From Creation To Creator

MAB is pleased to announce a very informative lecture by Shaykh Muhammad Khokhar Sahab, who will be visiting Chicago this weekend for a series of talks at various Masajid (details in the flyer). The talk will cover Our Love for our Creator and His Creation, which will cover topics of adaab and iqlaaq (mannerisms and etiquettes) both inside and outside the household. Shakhy Khokhar has many words of wisdom having been involved in the work of Dawah since the 1960's. Along with completing the Aalim course at the age of 68 more than a decade ago, he was a part of the faculty as a Higher Education Officer at the city University of New York for over 40 years. We encourage everyone to attend this talk, which will be this Saturday, January 21st, at Masjid Al-Jumu'ah immediately after Salatul Fajr (6:15am). (Bayan will be in Urdu)
