1st Annual MAS MN 5k Color Run

Welcome to the MAS MN Color Run & Walk for Mental Health Awareness. This is our first 5K Run & Walk in the Twin Cities. This is our chance as Muslims to come together and show our support for people with mental health issues. Mental Illness in the Muslim community has recently become a pressing issue, especially amongst our youth. However an even bigger issue is the stigma around mental health illness, becoming a major barrier for individuals who need help. This 5k color run is meant to attract everyone of all ages from high school students to college students to parents and families all together. We want to promote exercise, unity, and most importantly; raise awareness about the importance of mental health so that we can fight the stigma of mental health illnesses.

We are encouraging people to fast that day, and we will be providing Iftar. Muslim Day At The Capitol (MDAC)

The 14th Muslim Day at the Capitol (MDAC) is on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. You can help convey the concerns and needs of the Muslim community to the legislators. Muslim Day at the Capitol consists of three components: Training is provided for participants on how to interact with legislators and lobby them for your concerns. The training is scheduled to start at 8:00 am in Conference Room 316, 3rd Floor, State Capitol. A light brunch will be provided. A rally is held at 09:30 am at the State Capitol Rotunda. All participants gather to hear elected leadership and community leaders speak to the Muslim community. Attendees go in small groups to meet with legislators and speak to them about Muslim concerns. We are making appointments on behalf of attendees as we speak. Join your Muslim neighbors – doctors, engineers, business people, senior citizens, high school students, college students, stay at home parents and many many others – to show the strength and diversity of the Muslim community in Minnesota. Participants in the MDAC will have an opportunity to meet State Legislators to discuss issues relating to education, immigration, healthcare, and civil rights and help bring about positive social change. It is very important for the Muslim community to interact with our legislators and be positive participating citizens in the larger community.

In 2005, Lobna moved to Egypt with her husband, Shaykh Suhail Mulla, and her children for three years where she studied Arabic, Islamic Studies and Tajweed, before moving back to the States. Lobna has been working with the youth for more than a decade in various capacities, such as assisting with youth camps, leading halaqat, teaching tajweed classes, and leading a MAS Girl Scouts Troop. Currently, Lobna lives in Orange County with her husband and four children, where she is the Vice Chair for MAS Greater L.A.’s Tarbiya Department.

Super Bowl 50 Party

Super Bowl 50 is right around the corner, and what better way to spend the the biggest game of the year than with your brothers!
