Somali Famine Appeal by Islamic Relief Canada & Somali-Canadian
As you may be aware, there has been a prolonged drought that has devastated East Africa.
Specifically in Somalia, the drought is close to a deadly famine—where millions have slim to no food or water available.
Over half the Somali population faces the severe uncertainty for their basic human survival, without these two critical factors that sustain life.
We are requesting your support to help organize a Muslim community-wide relief campaign, that aids and assists those in need due to this harsh drought and famine.

In 2011, a localized famine resulted in the starvation of more than a quarter million Muslims, half of them were children.
This looming famine blankets the entire country; humanitarian workers on the ground are appealing for an urgent humanitarian relief effort.
“The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to the people. The most beloved deed to Allah is to make a Muslim happy, or to remove one of his troubles, or to forgive his debt, or to feed his hunger. That I walk with a brother regarding a need is more beloved to me than that I seclude myself in this mosque in Medina for a month”
