The Muslim Medical Association of Canada and Khalid Bin Al-Walid Mosque will be organizing a talk on "Careers in Medicine" with Dr. Rukia Swaleh and Dr. Ghassan Elkarim. The event will be hosted by Sheikh Aarij Anwer. Learn more about the steps you can take toward pursuing a career in medicine and have your questions answered by individuals who have already gone through the process! 2017 Ramadan Countdown [Share]

Muslims get ready because Ramadan is coming! Fasting | Prayer | & Free Iftaar at the Masjid Let's get the world excited about Ramadan 2017 this year. Share this event with your brothers and sisters in islam to create awareness for 2017 Ramadan. Ramadaan is the month of quran. The quran, the most powerful book in the world, was revealed in this month. It is also the month that contains "Laylat al-Qadr" or the night of power which is better than a thousand months. And "whoever spends Laylat al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, will be forgiven his/her previous sins."[Bukhaari, 1910; Muslim, 760] In this month, Allah opens the gates of Paradise and closes the gates of Hell, and chains up the devils, as is stated in Bukhaari (1898) and Muslim (1079). Every night in this month, Allah has people whom He redeems from the Fire. [Imam Ahmad (5/256) & Sahih Targhib, 987] Fasting in Ramadaan is equivalent to fasting ten months, as is indicated by the hadeeth in Sahih Muslim (1164). Whoever prays qiyaam in Ramadaan with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him/her that he/she spent the whole night in prayer. [Abu Dawood (1370)] Umrah in Ramadaan is equivalent to Hajj. [Bukhari (1782) and Muslim (1256)]. Muslims get ready because Ramadan is coming?

Salah: The Recipe of Success

The first thing that will be lost from your religion is trust, and the last thing to be lost will be the PRAYER. You will see people from amongst you praying, but they will receive no reward for it. “The first matter that he slave of Allah will be brought to account for on the Day of Judgement is the prayer. If it is sound, then the rest of their deeds will be sound. And if it is bad, then the rest of their deeds will be bad.” [Sahih Jami, Volume 1, page 503] This course which is an introductory part, will cover topics such as: 1- When and how Salah became mandatory for muslims. 2- What is the age when kids needs to start praying 3- Does missing a prayer make you a non-muslim? 4- How adhan and iqamah were revealed 5- The correct way to give adhan and iqamah 6- How and when were the timings of Salah revealed? 7- One masjid prays asr one hour than another, why is that? 8- Why can’t the muslims all agree on the timings of Salah? Back To School: Are You Ready? | 2016

It's that time of year, Alhamdulillah. While you head to Walmart and Staples for school supplies don't forget to check out this cool event at our masjid! As the school year restarts, we want to present youth and their parents a day filled with back-to-school workshops on how to navigate high school and college/university. We're also bringing back our "7 Steps To Going To School for Free" scholarship workshop! Some of the topics we'll be covering for high school students: - The rights of a student - Academic vs applied classes - Dealing with guidance counselors - Extra curricular activities - Peer pressure - Tips on practicing Islam in high school. Eg. Praying duhr, good friends Some of the topics for postsecondary students: - Difference between a degree and diploma - Choosing a faculty - Financial Aid - Resources at university and some much more Spread the word!
