Know your Rights Seminar with ACLU, AMAL & NJMLA
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), The Association of Muslim American Lawyers (AMAL) and New Jersey Muslim Lawyers Associations (NJMLA) have been working, diligently across the country and NJ, as people's rights are being violated:
- Fighting efforts to suppress free speech and the right to protest
- Defending people who were unconstitutionally jailed for being too poor to pay court fines
- Working to defend people who are being discriminated against under the banner of religion
...to name just a few....
Do you know your rights?
In addition to issues concerning "Knowing your Rights", there will also be Q&A/discussion specifically on immigration conditions/rights.
This is why we are collaborating with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), The Association of Muslim American Lawyers (AMAL) and New Jersey Muslim Lawyers Associations (NJMLA) for joint session on a "Know Your Rights Seminar". This is open to everyone. We know with the new administration, many people are feeling nervous about what might happen to themselves, their families, their friends and their neighbors.
We, at the Islamic Society of Central Jersey affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and look forward to helping our community and our neighbors through these tough times in whatever ways we can.
