This Saturday, March 11th 9:00am, IOK will be continuing its FREE Monthly Seminar Series titled Positive & Practical Parenting. This month's guest speaker is Sr. Marwa Asar and the topic is “Building Emotional Resilience in Your Children.”

Sr. Marwa Assar is a psycho-spiritual educator dedicated to providing spiritual, mental, and emotional empowerment through an Islamic Psychological lens. Marwa has completed her Bachelors Degree (B.A) in Psychology, her Masters of Education degree (Ed.M) in Counseling Psychology, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, specializing and completing a research study on an Islamic psychological approach to psychotherapy. Her experience consists of counseling adolescent boys who struggled with drug addiction and behavioral issues, counseling children with social and behavioral challenges, group counseling, as well as providing therapy to Muslim youth and adults. In addition, she has been a professor of Psychology at Bergen Community College and Felician University in New Jersey. Her passion for many years has been studying Islam and exploring the psychological tools within it that can help us improve our mental, emotional, and spiritual state. In addition to her research, she is constantly furthering her Islamic education and consulting with scholars and teachers to understand and formulate psychological concepts and tools through an Islamic lens.

A complimentary continental breakfast will be served from 9-9:30 a.m., and the lecture will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. in the main musalla. Babysitting will be available.
