To kick off Islamic Heritage Month festivities, please join Councillor Neethan Shan in Ward 42 for our opening reception on October 5th, from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm at the Malvern Community Recreation Centre! Councillor Shan has partnered with Muslim organizations in the community, who will be hosting events throughout October in the Ward to celebrate and reflect on our shared Islamic heritage as well as the role that Islam plays in shaping the contributions of Toronto's Muslims.
The Islamic Heritage Month Act, 2016 was introduced as 'Bill 23' in the Ontario Legislature to celebrate the vital contributions that Muslims have made in Ontario as part of the vibrant social, economic, political and cultural fabric of the province.
We have a fantastic lineup planned for the night, with representatives from the following partner organizations amongst others; introducing the diverse roster of activities slated to be held as part of Councillor Shan's Islamic Heritage Month initiative:
1. The Islamic Institute of Toronto (IIT)
2. The Islamic Foundation of Toronto (IFT)
3. The Muslim Welfare Centre (MWC)
4. Islamic Soccer League (ISL)
5. Tamil Nadu Multicultural Association of Canada (TNMAC)
6. DawaNet
7. The Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW)
Please join us as we celebrate and recognize the contributions of Canadian Muslims in our community in areas ranging from the sciences, arts, community leadership, and education. We look forward to seeing you there!
