Seerah - Life of the Prophet: A Social Justice Perspective
This course will give seekers an understanding of the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) using a social justice framework. The class will look at ideas of peace and justice in the Seerah and explore their deeper significance in the life of the Muslim. The Prophetic message, when viewed from a social justice perspective can have valuable outcomes both for Muslims and those of other faith traditions. In the class we will examine historical events, speeches and treaties that the Prophet had with his companions and others.
“Allah commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion: He instructs you, that you may receive admonition.” (Al Quran; 15:90)
