Small mosque behind police station. The Islamic Center of Siouxland serves as a religious and social hub for the Muslim community in Sioux City, IA, South Sioux City, NE and Dakota Dunes in South Dakota and surrounding areas. This building serves both as a Masjid (the first floor) and also as a community center (the basement)with separate facilities for men and women for cleaning and ritual ablution on the first floor and a kitchen and seating arrangements for 55-60 persons in the basement. This building was constructed in 2002 after a very long and hard struggle and generous contributions by local Muslims who mainly came from Pakistan and Iran. We thank Allah that we do not owe a penny to any bank or any other financial institution for this facility. The Islamic Center is registered as a non-profit and tax exempt organization with the Secretaries of State of Iowa and Nebraska and is governed by an autonomous board of directors.
