The Islamic Center of Davis serves the Muslim community in the college town of Davis, California. A large portion of the community is made up of Muslim students attending the University of California. The Center offers a variety of services to the Muslim community in Davis. In addition to the Congregational daily prayers and the Juma' Prayer (Friday sermon), the Center works toward bringing together Muslims through various cultural and social activities. The center also strives to enhance the understanding of Islam among Muslims as well as endeavor to make Islamic teachings known to interested non-Muslims. The Islamic Center of Davis is located in close proximity the UC Davis Campus, one of 10 campuses of the University of California. The City of Davis is a small college town where students compose a large portion of its population of about 56,000. Davis is close to California’s state capital Sacramento (15 miles to the east) and the San Francisco Bay Area and San Francisco (72 miles to the southwest).
