American Muslim Youth: Navigating Between Traditonal Values and Modern Fads

Muslim Youth born and raised in the west are facing a growing number of challenges by the day. Some of the factors contributing towards these challenges include
steep rise in Islamophobia in the last decade, social media, internet, peer pressure, marriages outside the faith, loss of religious values and inclination towards
atheism, recruitment by overseas extremist ideologies etc. Some immigrant parents find their teenage children who are born and raised in a western society go
through a phase of identity crisis. The child struggles to reconcile his/her identity between a Muslim Youth and an American citizen.

The talk will highlight the challenges faced by Muslim teens/youth living in the west. The Speaker will present practical tips and solutions on how to resist these challenges and yet maintain a balance between our faith and the norms of the western society. The talk will be delivered strictly in the context of Muslim Youth. External Event Url
