Shaykh Ashhar will be visiting ICC this Saturday right after Isha prayer and will deliver a lecture titled "Bringing Barakah Into Our Day" En sha’a Allah. Bio of the speaker follows.

Bio:
SHAYKH ASHHAR ALI grew up in Troy, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, where, in 1994, he completed the memorization of the Qur’an at eight years of age under Mufti Ahmed Rabbani. He completed his primary education at the International Academy High School in 2004 with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, and subsequently enrolled in the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor to complete a Bachelor’s of Science with a concentration in both Arabic & Islamic Studies, and Biopsychology. He then went on to complete his medical education at Michigan State University in 2012, after which he relocated to Cleveland, Ohio to pursue medical residency in neurology at the Cleveland Clinic.

In his high school and college years, Shaykh Ashhar was very active in the community, serving in leadership positions of various youth organizations, teaching Arabic, Hifdh, and Tajweed, and speaking in various local programs and events. It was at this time that he began studying Classical Arabic, Fiqh and other Islamic sciences under local scholars, and sought spiritual guidance from Shaykh Husain Abdul Sattar. In 2008, he began formally studying the Islamic sciences in the Sacred Learning Program under scholars including Mufti Hussain Kamani, Shaykh Khalid Sattar, and Mufti Ahmed Rabbani
