WHO: The Islamic Center of Bloomington and the Openhearted Campaign
WHAT: An Interfaith Day of Fasting and Dinner
WHEN: 8:30pm on June 30th
WHERE: Islamic Center of Bloomington, 1925 E Atwater Ave., Bloomington, IN 47401
DETAILS: Are you interested in Ramadan? Do you want to get to know your Muslim neighbors through shared experience? We invite you to fast during the day on June 30th! Then, join us to break the fast that evening at the Islamic Center of Bloomington with dinner and a short presentation on Ramadan. Muslims normally fast from before sunrise until sunset (4:49am – 9:16pm on June 30th), but of course we are used to fasting! If you feel you can only abstain from food (and want to drink water), or that you can only fast part of the day, or if you fall in a group that may be unable to fast (like those that are pregnant or ill), please join us anyway – we’d love to have you!
RSVP: Please tell us how many are in your party by emailing contact@openheartedcampaign.org or filling out our RSVP form here: http://goo.gl/forms/gZiDhIPDHCy4qVN13

Mosque Etiquette FAQ:

Will I be asked to remove my shoes?
Yes. Everyone inside the mosque will need to remove their shoes. You can, of course, wear them outside on the grounds.

What should I wear?
Generally it is appropriate to dress fairly modestly in the mosque. Covering the legs, arms, and chest is considered a mark of respect for the mosque as a place of worship.

Will men and women be in separate areas?
Typically during our iftars (fast-breaking dinners), the women and men dine separately. We hope to hold this interfaith dinner outdoors, which should allow ample space for our congregation to separate as they are accustomed while still allowing visiting families to sit together and converse with us!
