The insightful dictum of the English historian, Lord Acton, still rings true: "Power tends to corrupt, but absolute power corrupts absolutely." Conversely, however, absolute powerlessness appears to have the same corrosive effect. Between these two extremes swirls a seemingly unbreakable cycle of oppression. The oppressor must hate his victims in order to rationalize his behavior - but, unfortunately, the oppressed also do their part in perpetuating the cycle of oppression, often allowing a deep resentment to take root in their hearts.

How then can we break this unending cycle in a world where might often makes right? Join us for what promises to be an enlightening conversation between Chris Hedges and Hamza Yusuf, two thinkers whose work and faith traditions help them offer bold strategies of resistance in the face of some of today's most pressing problems.
