Imam Ghazzali’s Ihya Ulūm ad-Dīn, The Revival of the Religious Sciences, is amongst the most important scholarly works about Islam – its Tradition, Laws, Belief and Spiritual Excellence. The magnum opus consists of 40 books, each requiring a formal study of its own, divided into four quarters. It is a masterpiece concerning human existence, from the cradle to grave, and beyond.

The four quarters, comprising of 10 books each, are masterfully divided into the following themes:
The First Quarter: On Worship (explaining Nature of Knowledge to Acts of Worship)
The Second Quarter: On Customs and Practices (explaining of Ethics of Living)
The Third Quarter: On Destructive Vices (explaining Human Nature and Diseases of the Heart)
The Fourth Quarter: On Saving Virtues (explaining the Trodden Path to Salvation and Felicity)

The Ihya is not only for the Muslim Believer, for all humanity, that if they learnt from it, they not only live an ethical life but also have a profound intellectual consciousness, and perhaps the light of Faith kindled. The Ihya is a book of revival of human consciousness and conscience of every generation; it is a collection of the legacy left by the Holy Messenger, Muhammad (upon whom be peace and blessings of God, The Exalted). Imam Ghazzali, in true fashion as the heir of such priceless knowledge preserved it and transmitted for us all to benefit from

This entire series made of forty lessons, will cover each book in an abridged form, in order to provide a sound basis for the seeker of knowledge to commence a journey of seeking answers regarding the nature of our existence and where we are headed, and where we find true happiness. Join this series for an intellectual journey which will awaken one’s spirituality to the try nature of knowledge, and how it ought to be attained and utilised to journey to The Real, God Almighty Himself.
