The Book of Assistance is a practical guide, a classical text greatly relevant today for every Muslim seeking practical and an ethical life based on Prophetic example. This text, taught over five intensive evenings by one of his own descendants – Habib Abdul Rahman al-Haddad – provides guidance for the firming of one’s faith and attaining certainty in one’s spiritual path to meet their Lord.

The Author

The author – Imam Abdallah Ibn-Alawi al-Haddad – lived in Tarim in the Hadramaut valley of Yemen, and is widely accepted to have been the ‘renewer’ mentioned by the Messenger of God, of the 12th Islamic century. A direct descendant of the Prophet, his sanctity and experiential gnosis of God are clearly reflected in his writings, which include several books, a collection of letters, and a volume of spiritual poetry. He spent most of his life in Kenya and Saudi Arabia where he taught Islamic jurisprudence of the Shafi’i school and Tasawwuf.
