One of the key sciences that one must learn to truly understand the Hadith, its verification and its transmission, is the technical terminology of the codification of Hadith (mustalah al hadith). A primer on Hadith terminology that has been taught for centuries is the book Nukhbatul al Fikar by the great Hadith Master Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani.
