Allah ascribed many names to Himself within the Qurʾān so we can understand who He is and we can call upon Him by these names to gain openings in our relationship with Him. Likewise, He gave the Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace) many names and attributes mentioned in the Qurʾān and the Prophetic literature.
Great scholars throughout Islamic history such as Imam Suyūṭī, Qāḍī ʿIyāḍ, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah dedicated chapters and books to the names of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace); some of them enumerating them into the thousands.
