Do museum objects have digital lives?

The talk will address this question by employing three analogies. Firstly, it will use the analogy of the platypus to talk about the hybrid museum; the new and emerging form of museum that lives and breathes in the physical and the digital space. Secondly, the notion of motherships, to describe museums as places where objects and knowledge are collected, created, processed and shared with visitors and audiences. And, thirdly, the idea of avatars to discuss further how a museum can go about being part of people's daily (online) lives.
