The International Day of Peace, 21st September, was established by the United Nations in 1982. Each year people all over the World come together and organise special activities including concerts, festivals, community events and more. This year Peace Day falls on a Friday and all over the World including the UK, Muslims are organising activities with their friends and neighbours of all faiths and backgrounds and Mosques are dedicating their Friday sermons to messages of peace.

The Islamic Society of Britain supported by partners from across the UK are pleased to launch a new competition to mark this special day:

A Picture of Peace

Open to all children - 7-14 years

Closing date: Friday December 7th 2012

Prizes include 'Kindles' for the overall winners and books for their schools. More information to follow...

What does 'Peace' mean to you?
Entrants are encouraged to produce a piece of artwork or write a poem.

Peace is precious and beautiful. What brings you peace or makes you think of peace? What kinds of things show us peace? Where do you go for peace?
