The Shari’ah is the moral code and religious law of Islam. Since Islam is a complete way of life, the Shari’ah encompasses several different topics. It includes person guidance such as acts of worship, hygiene, dietary regulations, dress code, and ethical behavior. It also presents directives concerning social behavior such as marriage, divorce, child custody, inheritance distribution, economic regulations, political organization, crime, and international relations.

The general ignorance of the true teaching of Islam, both among Muslims and non-Muslims, has led to many grave misconceptions about the Shari’ah, its role, and the wisdom underlying it. Furthermore, Islamophobic organizations have indoctrinated many people with the ludicrous idea that Muslim living in the West have an agenda to forcefully implement the Shari’ah on the non-Muslim population.

By gaining a deeper insight into what the Shari’ah really is, its underlying framework, and its aim and objectives, people will see through the misconceptions and deliberate distortions concerning Islam and the way of life it promotes.
