When the Prophet recieved the first revelation of "Read in the name of your Lord", he ran home terrified and trembling in fear at what happened. His first response was "cover me" and he sought comfort after such an event. Then, he sees Jabreel for a second time and he tells him that he's the Messenger of God and he runs home again seeking comfort. But this time, Allah reveals to him, "Oh you who is covered, Rise and Warn." Allah reveals to him the first 7 verses of Surah Al-Muddathir which begins his mission. After rising on that day, the Prophet(pbuh) did not rest till the day he passed. Unfortunately, I can't say that this is the same case with us. We live in a time where we are sitting in comfort and trying to escape our trials and fear. But it's time for us to rise and call and fulfill our responsibility of being the best nation brought to mankind.

Allah(SWT) says, "Who is better in speech than the one who calls to Allah, and does righteous deeds and says I am of the Muslims." Allah(SWT) mentions that the best of speech is giving calling others to Allah and not only that but doing righteous actions along with it. This ayah reveals to us that verbal dawah and physical dawah are connected. You cannot only call with your speech or only with your actions, but rather both are necessary. Then, to announce and publicize that you are a Muslim, that the reason you are calling people to good and doing good is because you are a Muslim.

This event will revolve around Surah Al-Muddathir ayah 1-7 and our dawah duty as Muslims living in the US. Imam Siraj Wahhaj & Ustadh Majed Mahmoud will elaborate on these first few verses that were revealed to the Prophet and how it can relate to our dawah work today whether verbal or physical. These two amazing speakers will inspire us to follow in the footsteps of the Prophets and remind us of the Legacy of the Elite. External Event Url
